Itinerary
Begin your journey with a scenic helicopter flight from Te Anau, landing directly aboard the Fiordland Jewel waiting in Preservation Inlet or Dusky Sound. Step aboard and settle in as your adventure begins in one of New Zealand’s most remote wilderness areas.
-
Spend the next few days navigating the pristine waters of Breaksea, Dusky, Preservation, and Chalky Inlets. Activities during this leg of the journey may include:
- Bush, island, and beach walks, including a visit to Puysegur Point, the most south-westerly tip of the South Island
- Exploring historic sites from Captain Cook’s voyages and New Zealand’s Gold Rush era
- Wildlife spotting — these secluded fiords are home to abundant marine life and bird species
- Optional fishing for a fresh catch
- Kayaking and excursions aboard tender boats to explore hidden coves and shorelines
-
As the voyage turns north, retrace your route through Breaksea and Doubtful Sounds. On Day 7, disembark at Doubtful Sound and transfer by coach over the scenic Wilmot Pass, followed by a boat crossing on Lake Manapouri, returning you to the township of Manapouri.
