Things to do

    • Clients can drive to Kaka Point to see the lighthouse and its surrounding rocky islets, the “nuggets”. Whilst there, they might spot penguins, gannets, spoonbills and fur seals.
    • The McLean Falls on the Tautuku River descend 22 metres and are accessible on foot. Possibly New Zealand’s most photographed, the enchanting Purakaunui Falls are are also accessible by a short forest walk.

    • Spectacular 30-metre-high cliff caves with 200 metres of sea tunnels – named after their amazing acoustics.
    • With large brown trout and sea salmon of offer, fishing enthusiasts should head to Clutha River and Pomahaka River.
    • Lawrence was Otago’s first gold-rush town, and now features a range of shops, cafes and historical accommodation.
    • A free daily ferry using just the flow of the Clutha river – it is the only one of its kind left in the Southern Hemisphere.
