Things to do
- The Hurunui district is a region of contrast. Its rolling hills are limestone-rich in places and a patchwork of wineries in others. Don’t miss the Cathedral Coves at Gore Bay.
- Seasonal produce and gourmet fare, there is something for every palate. Your clients will find many locally owned cafés and restaurants, and there are several wild food foraging tours on offer.
- Pinot noir, chardonnay and riesling are produced here by passionate people. Enjoy a taste of local offerings by hitting the food and wine trail either by bike or on foot.
- In the alpine village of Hanmer Springs, your clients will find one of the region’s most popular destinations – Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa. Relax in the mineral-rich waters, or enjoy a treatment at the spa.
- Make your way through log cabins to reach the family-friendly ski field of Mt Lyford. The Mt Lyford Lodge provides the ideal spot for an alpine retreat at the base of the mountain.
- Hurunui’s beaches are about as rugged as they get. If your clients are keen to get off the grid, suggest they head to Gore Bay, a popular surf spot.
- Hanmer Springs offers a multitude of mountain biking tracks that will keep the whole family happy. The subalpine St James walkway offers unobscured views of the mountains.
