  • Board the Fiordland Jewel at Halfmoon Bay, Oban in the late morning and begin your adventure across Paterson Inlet / Whaka a Te Wera. Take in the scenic surroundings and settle into the vessel as you prepare to explore Stewart Island’s remote wilderness.

  • Spend the next several days navigating the island’s inlets, bays, and rivers. Weather permitting, activities may include:

    • Kayaking or exploring by tender boat, with the potential to circumnavigate the island and access secluded regions of Rakiura National Park, which covers approximately 85% of Stewart Island’s 1,570 km²
    • Occasional shore visits to stretch your legs and discover local highlights, including the Ulva Island bird sanctuary, the historic Norwegian whaling station at Prices Inlet, and Little Glory Bay
    • Observing Stewart Island’s rich marine and birdlife in their natural habitats
    • Optional fishing for a fresh catch
    • Kayaking and tender boat excursions to explore hidden coves, rivers, and beaches
  • Disembark the Fiordland Jewel at Halfmoon Bay, Oban and take the morning ferry back to Bluff, concluding your Stewart Island adventure.
